Inspired by a particular site, historical incident, or political issue, Lin + Lam (Lana Lin and H. Lan Thao Lam) collect research in the form of interviews, archival materials, and found objects. Their collaboration brings together their backgrounds in architecture, photography, sculpture, installation and time-based media. Their work has been exhibited at international venues including the Museum of Modern Art, New Museum, The Kitchen, and the Queens Museum, New York, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, Arko Arts Center (Korean Arts Council), Seoul, 3rd Guangzhou Triennial, China, and the 2018 Busan Biennale. Their films have screened at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Taiwan International Documentary Film Festival, San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, Nepal America Film Festival, and European Media Art Festival, Osnabrück, Germany, among others. Their work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts, Vera List Center for Art & Politics, KW Institute for Contemporary Art Production Series, and the India China Institute at The New School, NY.
Lin received her MFA from Bard College, and is Associate Professor in the School of Media Studies, The New School, New York. Lam received her MFA from CalArts, and is Assistant Professor in the Fine Arts Program at Parsons The New School for Design.
